The courses will help you to

  • Take action; acknowledge and face the fears, supporting you gently from a place of pain and paralysis to a place of power, looking at the things you can do.
  • Build your confidence to face your fears, using a range of tools and strategies to help you build your resilience and confidence, one day at a time.
  • Understand the Power of Words, those you hear from yourself as well as those you hear from others and how they can affect your day.
  • Reframe negative thoughts and understand the power of affirmations.
  • Be open to new ways of thinking, reflection and understand the importance of self-care and self-compassion now more than ever.

Newly diagnosed.

  • If you want to look at the different ways to manage your fears as you embark on your treatment ahead, I have called it a new chapter. This course is for you.

After treatment has ended.

  • This is a strange time, whilst you are pleased that treatment is over, it is a feeling of what now? what do I do next? will I ever return to the old me? what do I want in my life now? so many questions.

Fear of re-occurrence

  • After a cancer diagnosis, and completing treatment, fear of re-occurrence is very common.

Course details

Face to Face
These will take place in spacious accessible venues in Hull and East Yorkshire area.

  • One full day or 2 half days or 2 hours in duration over 4 weeks

Zoom
This is to enable those who are wary of meeting, due to fear of infection during treatment, or those who may have difficulty travelling. A full day or even a half day on zoom would be a little challenging for us all, so with that in mind, we plan to offer a shorter course over a few weeks.

Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway – The Book
We would ask that you purchase or borrow a copy of this from the library. This will help as we explore the tools and strategies on the course.

Manual – ‘Managing your fears’.
This will enable you to document your thoughts and feelings as we work through the exercises in each of the chapters.

Supplement to the book – Managing the Fears of your Cancer Diagnosis.
This is something that I have written, applying the principles to the cancer experience.

Both the Manual and supplement will either be posted to you for the Zoom Course or be given to you on the face-to-face course.
